About our Team Leader

Ms. Katie Schmid is the Head Instructor and Administrator at K.O. Kung Fu. She is a Certified Instructor Level 2 with the International Bok Fu Do Association (IBFDA), and a KO Kung Fu Instructor Level A and certified Cardio Kickboxing Instructor. Ms. Schmid is an IBFDA-Certified 1st Degree Brown Belt.

Ms. Schmid has been a student of Master John Ozuna at K.O. Kung Fu for 14 years, since the age of 10. In her time under Master Ozuna, she has competed in countless competitions at the local, regional, national, and world levels.

In 2015, Ms. Schmid was asked to compete as a part of the United States Lei Tai team at the 5th The World Kuo Shu Federation (TWKSF) World Championship Tournament in Argentina and took 2nd place in her weight category. In 2018, Ms. Schmid competed at the 6th TWKSF World Kuo Shu Championship Tournament in the United States as a member of the New Zealand National Team and became the World Champion in full contact Short Weapons Fighting.

In July 2019, Ms. Schmid will be representing K.O. Kung Fu at the USKSF US International KuoShu Championship Tournament to be held in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
